The Diamond Tower sat at the center of the compound that was now the hub of The Fours Inc., which meant that it was a good half mile away from where Trevor and Niki got off the bus. A bit of a mob had formed. A guard came at Niki. A dozen people from the crowd also came at her, replacers obviously.
"Follow me!" Trevor snapped.
"Trevor, you're invisible. How can I...Trevor!"
"This way!"
The layout of The Fours Inc. reminded Niki of a corridor, kind of. She saw this wide boulevard that led directly to the Diamond Tower. Office buildings and warehouses lined either side. And this was a busy boulevard, too. The Fours Inc. compound was a busy place. Niki saw dozens of these golf-cart-like vehicles zipping all over, but she also saw dozens of people just walking, employees of the corporation, in groups or alone, bustling along.
Niki followed Trevor to a pair of golf carts stopped in front of one of the warehouses. The man in one of the golf carts talked to the two in the other.
Niki ran to the cart that only had a single person in it. He didn't turn to look in her direction. He was too busy talking.
Good, Niki thought. That'll make this next part so much easier.
Niki grabbed the top of the cart, then used her legs and feet to kick the guy completely out from behind the steering wheel.
"Hey!"
"Sorry," Niki muttered as she grabbed the steering wheel herself to get the cart headed towards the Diamond Tower. She was lying, though. She wasn't sorry. She thought it was kind of funny, really. The only sound the cart made as it moved along was the crunch of wheels on asphalt.
Trevor had no problem with the two men in the other cart. Again, it was the whole invisibility thing. He snatched the driver by the collar of his vest to pull him backwards out onto the sidewalk.
"Hey!" the other guy in the car exclaimed.
Trevor head butted him. Crack! It sounded like a bowling ball dropped on a linoleum floor. Now it was Trevor's turn to grab the top of the cart to kick somebody out. He got behind the wheel of the cart, and he took off.
"Hey!"
