Just like what had happened between Axel and Anna the year before.

The second he touched her, Adam felt instantly and obsessively in love with Katy Armstrong. Katy's smile grew wider then because she saw it in his eyes, and inwardly she emitted a sigh of relief. I was afraid this part of it was going to be a whole lot harder, she thought. I mean, this is Adam Forwarder we're talking about here, arguably the most famous eligible bachelor in the world, and who am I? I'm just plain old frumpy Katy Armstrong with the hair I can never get right and the body I never felt completely comfortable with in the world I never really felt comfortable living in. All day, she'd been afraid he'd reject her outright, that he'd laugh openly at her claim to be Mother to the One, and now...

It was like time froze on the thirtieth floor in the skyscraper at that moment. The Silver Scorpion stayed where he was, on his knees, recovering from the sonic super punch Adam had given him. The security guards stayed frozen in place, waiting, perhaps, for someone to make a move so that everyone might know what to do next. Gramps stood eight feet from the couple. Adam and Katy continued to gaze into each other's eyes. They, too, seemed uncertain as to what the next move should be. Everyone felt that, in that moment that Katy and Adam had touched, something fundamental had changed in that room, in reality. It was like everything, in an eyeblink's time, had taken on a bit of a glow.

"Uh, what is your name?" Adam asked.

"My name is Katy. Katy Armstrong."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Katy."

"Why Adam." She curtsied as kind of a joke but kind of not, too. "It's a pleasure to meet you, as well."

"I've searched for you all my life, Katy."

     "I know."

He wanted to make love with her. He wanted to drown her with kisses and hold her close to him, then take hours and hours exploring her personality and mind and soul. In her eyes, he could see she wanted the same. And yet...There they were, at the center of what could, at any moment, erupt into another world crisis.

     So, they did nothing...

     except stand there...

and gaze longingly into each other's eyes.

     Nexus moment.

It touched Gramps heart, that moment. It also worried him.

Let it pass, he urged them both silently. Let's move this on. This is a nexus moment, after all. Anything can happen. Things can go from wonderful to horrible in a micro-second.

     In fact...
