His suit flopped all over the place now. All of a sudden he found he couldn't breathe at all. It was like someone had shoved a pillow over his face.
"C-Claudia?" he managed to choke.
"I'm at your left! Look!"
Adam did as she said, and, yep, there she was indeed, bless her forever. She was trying to match the rate of the Stargod's descent with his, and, even as he became aware of her, he saw that she just about had it. Two seconds later, and the Stargod was right beneath him. It slowed until Adam rested on top of it. Then it continued to slow, slow until it, at last, stopped completely. Then, the roof of the Stargod lowered into the bowels of the hovercraft itself, taking Adam along with it.
"Yeah!" Adam was back inside a Stargod.
"That visit didn't last long," Claudia said.
"Rude host. I won't be accepting anymore of his invitations anytime soon."
"I'm strapping you in, Adam. We're under attack!"
"Already?"
There were two of them, and under no circumstances could either of them be described as standard jet planes or military aircraft. They were quick as jets, but they were just so much more mobile. They moved like helicopters, hummingbirds, up, down, left, right, forwards, backwards, and their design was not long and thin but squat and compact.
"Where in the hell did those come from?" Adam asked, although, really, both he and Claudia already knew the answer. They'd come right from the Skymaster, those attack crafts.
WHAM!
The force of the blast sent the Stargod spinning.
"Damn!"
"They're coming too fast," Claudia said.
WHAM!
"I'm ejecting you Adam," Claudia said. "We're coming apart."
