Hoby and Belle smashed through the glass front doors of the courthouse to fly into the lobby...

as the Silver Centipede and the Silver Scorpion.

     CRASH!

The silver armor they wore made them look like robots.

     Huge robots, eight feet tall.

Hoby's armor had dozens, if not a full hundred, arms all over his body, some longer, some thinner, than others. Some had metal fingers. The others had pincers.

     He was the Silver Centipede.

A tail as big and thick as a human leg extended from the back of Belle's armor. It, too, had a pincer at its end, but this was a pincer as big as a fist.

     She was the Silver Scorpion.

     "Where is he?" Hoby bellowed.

"Wherever he is, he's coming with us!" Belle added.

They gave a dozen guards in the lobby something to shoot at.

     BAM! BAM! BAM!

The bullets ricochetted off Hoby and Belle's armor to go flying everywhere. Trevor dropped low while Niki went high to keep from getting hit by any stray bullets.

     Four officers took wounds.

A fifth officer took one right between the eyes.

Hoby and Belle's armor made them several times stronger than any normal human being.

Hoby grabbed a guard, got a good grip on him, then ripped the guy's arm completely from its socket. The yowl! from the guard was loud and shrill and filled with shock and agony.

Belle punched a guy in the face so hard, his skull exploded like a melon.

     "Fan," Hoby said.

It was a maneuver they'd worked out.

They stood back to back, then rose on their anti-gravs to circle each other.

And then they widened the circle.

     They moved quick...

in search of people who were both invisible and could fly.

They thought they were looking for Trevor, but really they were looking for Niki.

Lucky for her, she'd trained on her anti-gravs over the previous two years and avoided the Silvers easily.

Meanwhile, Trevor was still back on the ground with the guards.

He looked up. The ceiling was, like, a hundred feet above his head. He could use his Azure lines to attach himself to the ceiling again, but, with the Silvers flying around up there, he figured he'd have better luck with the guards on the ground.

He took a single step for the exit when something smashed through the doors leading into the lobby, obliterating what parts of them the Silvers hadn't already destroyed.

It was the size and shape of a Maserati, and it flew.

Two guards happened to be in the way. The skycar smashed them to pieces.

     It landed.

The door of the car flew open, and Kevin Klawmaker stepped out...

in full body armor, of course.

"I'll get Trevor Harper myself!" he bellowed.
