"Bye," both Niki and Trevor said at the same time.

     They turned invisible.

As far as everyone in the courtroom was concerned, they disappeared.

     The room dissolved into chaos.

Not because of Niki. Only the two guys who'd been converging on her realized she'd disappeared.

     It was because of Trevor.

One of the most wanted men on the planet, and certainly the most wanted man in Seatrailia, had been captured, and now he'd just vanished?

Millions of people gasped, all those in the courtroom and whoever watched on their television or computer screens around the world.

The Azure had installed within both Niki and Trevor the ability to turn themselves and all that was attached to them, their clothes and Trevor's shackles for instance, invisible, just by saying, "Bye".

The Azure, also, just recently, had installed within both Niki and Trevor something new.

Trevor reached up as far as he could with his shackled arms and muttered, "attach."

     Strings sprang from Trevor's wrists.

The strings rose until they hit the ceiling of the courtroom.

     Twenty feet above everyone's heads.

Their ends adhered to the ceiling.

     "Retract," Trevor muttered.

The strings retracted back into Trevor's wrists...

     so that Trevor rose.

When Trevor hit the ceiling, he flattened against it and waited for Niki.

Niki hadn't lost her anti-grav sneakers.

She, too, rose to the ceiling. The two sunglassed guys missed grabbing her by half a heartbeat, but they didn't know that because she was invisible. They looked everywhere and barked frantically into their sleeves.

     Several guards drew their weapons.

People ran for the exit even as others ran in.

Those with cameras tried to record everything.

     The din was incredible.

     "Trevor?" Niki whispered.

     "Here."

"Got it." Niki reached out to get a feel of where Trevor was, touched his skull. "Okay, so how are we going to do this? You can't get a grip on me with those chains, right?"

"You're going to have to get between my arms and my body."

     "Like spoons? Trevor..."

"It's the only way, Niki. You can't see my chains."

"I'll feel for them." Niki pulled out her L-K to slice away the chain that connected Trevor's arm shackles to his legs shackles. "See? That wasn't so bad, was it? Here. Hold the chain. You hold the chains while I cut them off."

"They'll see the glow from the L-K."

"I'm almost done. Help me out here, Trevor. Where are your legs?"

"What agency you think those guys with the sunglasses are from?"

"Are they even from a government agency?"

"Whoa. One of them just caught the L.K. glow. Hurry."

     "The...Got it. Done. Got 'em?"

     "Yep."

Niki got a feel of where Trevor's skull was, then turned so that the back of her skull touched the back of his. "Okay?"

     "Yep."

     "Drop the chains."

The shackles turned visible as they fell to the floor, drawing everyone's attention.

     "Release," Trevor said.

The lines that held him to the ceiling detached.

Trevor twisted to that he could land on Niki's back, his legs twisted around hers.

     "Oomph!" Trevor was heavy.

Niki flew them to one corner of the courtroom well away from where they'd first vanished. Two guards filled the part of the ceiling they'd just left with ammo fire.

"It's going to be a trick getting through the exit," Niki said.

The exit was packed with people going in and out.

Plus, there was the metal detector.

"You thinking of just blasting your way through?" Trevor asked.

     "Sure am."

She felt him get a tighter grip on her body.

     "Let's go," he said.
