"Brock, we need you on those copters," Noel said into his com.
"Copy."
"You got the juice, pal?"
"I'm good," Brock told Noel, although he didn't feel absolutely certain he believed himself. Brock could only call up so much pure, crackling azure energy at any one time, and whenever he used it to fly or produce a force field or blow off an energy blast, it depleted him. He was kind of a human battery in that sense. That's what most of his personal training with the Azure concerned, learning how to best contain, control, and not waste any of that precious azure energy.
One of the helicopters hit Brock with everything it had. Brock responded in kind. The copter exploded into a massive metallic mass of debris that then rained down upon the city below.
Brock, also, began to drift downward. Man, that was so stupid, he thought. I should never have used that much energy on that copter.
Now he had no choice but to get back into their van and replenish.
