Alison could no longer bring herself to look at Winston. He'd turned into something half-human, half-plant.

"I hated lying to you," he said.

"So you didn't say anything, which is worse than a lie."

"You need to listen to me, Patty. Something's happening to me. There's some sort of...there isn't much time. Infini feels, Patty. She feels love."

"You couldn't possibly say anything about Infini that we would want to hear," Gramps said.

"You can feel it," Winston said. "Anyone can feel it, Infini's love. because it's a part of everything. It's as much a part of the fabric of the universe as the stars and the planets. What I've felt for you these last few months, what we shared, was real, Patty. That's what I'm..."

He stopped. It was like he got hit by a lightning bolt.

And he wasn't the only one.

It was like every fourth person on the continent got slammed by the same seizure.

     They stopped dead.

They paled until all the color left their faces.

A stricken look crossed Alison's features. She reached out her hand to Winston as if to comfort him, then drew her hand quickly back.

No more of Winston existed in Winston's body.

Another stricken look crossed Alison's features, only this wasn't the look of regret or caring.

It was a look of fear.

All humanity drained from the bodies of the thousands of human-looking botanicals that, until that moment, had lived on the continent of Naturia.

Then, as it they all had the same mind, the human-looking botanicals attacked the actual humans.

Within seconds, it became hand-to-hand combat among the citizens of Naturia.
