"Are you all as excited as I am?" Gideon Goldbody asked.
His response was one of muted murmurs of appreciation, which was as close as this group was ever going to get to wild applause.
"From the swamps we came," Goldbody said. "As a species, we came from the mountains and jungles and deserts, we taught ourselves to hunt and farm and build, and now look at where our relentless forward progress has brought us." He indicated the Earth beyond the thick, transparent wall. "Yet, in spite of our evolutionary crawl over then thousand years, there's still that animal within all of us, isn't there? There's always the beast fighting to break free, to cry havoc and howl."
"So, if you'll excuse me..."
"Allow me, for a moment, to free my beast."
