He was back.
Adam looked down at himself.
He was Adam again.
He stood on some sort of platform.
Then, CLUNK! Adam Adama dropped from above to stand next to him.
She looked so pregnant, Adam figured she'd be having the baby any second.
He said, "Who…"
"Shut up!"
Her feet riding tight to the platform, Adama propelled forward like she road a surfboard.
Around them, Adam could see nothing but red flame.
This is such a strange fucking universe, Adam thought. I want to get out of this fucking universe just as soon as I fucking can.
They rode the surfboard/platform completely out of the red flame into empty space.
The second they did, Adam found himself enclosed in a cage large enough to contain only his body.
He looked one way, and he saw nothing but red flame.
He looked the other way, and it was like the Domitikan Universe had splintered into a prism. Some parts were multicolored. Other parts were utterly blank. Some parts were filled with stars. Other parts were of a white universe filled with black stars. Some looked empty. Others were filled to the brim with writhing, living things.
All these prism parts, themselves, seemed alive.
They were the ones who seemed to be keeping the red flame from engulfing Adam again.
And at least one of them held him prisoner.
He turned to Adama. "You think you can get me out of this?" he asked.
"That might take some doing," she said. "You've gotten yourself into a real jam here." And then her features twisted. She bent over and held her gut.
"Adama, are you..."
"Contractions," she managed to mutter. "My water just broke, Adam."
"What?"
A second cage surrounded the first.
The first cage that had surrounded Adam looked made of iron.
The second one looked made of silver.
A third cage surrounded Adam. This one looked made of ice.
A fourth cage surrounded Adam.
A fifth.
A sixth.
It seemed that every entity in Domitika that could imprison Adam did.
Then...
Damn.
Another Adam and Adama appeared on the scene.
They looked older somehow, this second Adam and Adama, even though Adams didn't really age...
and they were fighting.
Fiercely.
Their fingers clutched each other's throats like they wanted to tear each other's skull off. These two had no other purpose than to crush the life out of each other.
They spun through empty Domitikan space, locked in their deadly embrace.
The God of Red Flame sent a fireball their way. It hit them and inflamed them both.
On fire, they continued to spin...
at which point, they both disappeared as if they'd never been.
Damn. So weird.
Through the bars of all his cages, Adam could still see Adama on the other side, relatively free.
Even as he looked at her, she went into a seizure. Her body convulsed. She had to plant her feet firmly to keep herself anchored. She held back her head and screamed. She grabbed at the slacks she wore and ripped them off her body.
"Who are you?" Adam roared, terrified that, in fact, he already knew the answer.
From between Adama's two spread legs, Adam watched a baby's bloody head emerge.
Adama smiled even as her features twisted from the agony that lanced through her.
And then her features changed.
Her skin turned blue, and not Azure blue.
Oh no. Oh no.
Her Adama persona faded away into nothingness, to be replaced by the true face of the one who was within seconds of becoming a mother.
And the face that remained:
"Hedik!"
"Hi Dad," Hedik, Adam's son, replied.
"No!"
And, with that, a final cage dropped over Adam, this one a large, black box, so that, now, within it, Adam could see or hear nothing at all.
