"So how'd it go?" Gramps asked sarcastically when Trevor and Adam got back. "I saw people fleeing in terror."
"Things didn't work out near as well as we'd hoped," Adam replied.
"And you didn't get any sandwiches either, did you?"
"You see me handing you a salami sub?"
"Now even I'm starting to get hungry," Gramps said. "Oh good, look. More cops."
"And there're the dogs," Trevor said. He heard their barks.
"They'll come right at us," Adam said.
"Well we can't move. I told the Valids that..."
"The Valids?" Trevor asked. "The people we're connecting with are called the Valids?"
"I guess I could give them a call back. I just saw a news truck pull...oh, wait a minute. You know what? I think they're right over there. That white van? I think that's them."
"Just in the nick of time," Adam said. "I love that. That means that fate is on our side...for once."
"I wouldn't count on that," Gramps said.
