     Tindriss slammed into a warship.

Tindriss blasted through the inside of the warship like a ricocheting bullet. She blasted through walls, computer banks, soldiers.

     What remained imploded, then exploded.

Every other warship in the fleet now had a single target.

     Tindriss.

She blasted through the inside of the warship nearest the one she'd just destroyed.

Fifteen seconds later, that warship exploded as well.

Then Tindriss picked up the pace.

The next warship she attacked came apart in less than ten seconds.

Four dozen warships converged to fire on her.

Their missiles and beams barely slowed her down.

She followed one beam back to the warship that emitted it, then tore that warship to pieces.

Every warship attacked her. All those missiles, all those beams, zeroed in on a single spot the size of a human being. The blowback from all that expended energy blew apart the warships nearest the epicenter.

     No one cared.

Had they killed Tindriss? That's all that mattered.

     They waited.

     Did anything move? Did...

     Oh.

     Yes.

     Yes, something did move.

And, when it moved, it moved quick.

The legends were true, then. Nothing could stop Tindriss once she got started.

Warships came apart, one after the other.

"Retreat!" Caracaw had no choice but to order. "Jump to fallback space and await further instructions!"
