Gramps and Katy emerged from the elevator just as everyone else, in a panic,​ fought frantically to get on to one. 

     "Looks like the fun's started," Gramps said. 

     Katy looked confused. "What...Why is everybody..."

​     They were still in the foyer. From ahead of them, they heard, 

     "I TELL YOU I AM ALACRAN! I AM THE..."

​     Gramps got between Katy and where he figured the trouble came from. "This may not be the best time for a visit with Adam," he said,  even as the foyer filled with more fleeing, terror stricken party goers. "We can see him later. I've got his and Claudia's phone number. He's a friend of mine. We could even wait until tomorrow if..." 

     "No." From the auditorium, Kathy heard the crunch of metal smashing metal, Alacran versus the serving robots. 

     "No, the time is now." She'd have to fight her way past the panicked, fleeing people to even get to Adam. "You coming?" 

     "Let's go," Gramps replied. "But please, Katy, I beg of you. Stay away from the fighting itself. Please. Please." 

     From the auditorium, Katy heard Adam say, "Howdy Scorpy..."
