The ski-sled stopped making that shisking sound as it flew off into empty space. After that, only silence.

Adam didn't seem the slightest bit phased by this latest turn of events. They'd been going so fast that the ski-sled didn't drop so much as it propelled forward like a jet. Within seconds, of course, they'd be dropping like a rock, but for those first few moments...

"So, you want to give me that interview now?" he asked.

     "Adam!"

     "What?"

     "We're seconds away from dying!"

"Oh no. We're just having fun.  Stick with me, darling. I'll keep you safe."

And they still hurtled through the air. They started to descend a bit now, but, for the most part, they continued to propel forward. Tana felt like she could take a nap, then wake up again, and they'd still be hurtling through space.

     Then,

     Thip!

They hit the other side of the cliff perfectly so that it continued down the side of the mountain like the chasm had never existed.

"So ask me a question," Adam said.

"No!" Tana was still petrified. Ahead, a forest of evergreen trees. No way were they going to avoid slamming into at least one of them.

"Are you sure? This might be your last chance." Adam saw the trees coming right at them. They'd slam into the forest in less than seven seconds.

"Okay, so how do you do it?"

     "Do..."

     "How do..."

     "Later."
