One of the van's offensive blasts finally got to one of the helicopters. Its engine exploded, and it went into a spin. As it did, it caught the tail of a second copter. That copter now, also, spun out of control even as it continued to send out concentrated bursts of ammo fire.
One burst made it all the way into the safe room. Without Noel there, it would have shredded the family inside. As it was, the bullets bounced harmlessly off of them to embed themselves in the cement wall.
"Man, I love you!" Cathy yelled to Noel over the din.
They were really high up in the air now. Seatrailia's entire twenty square mile downtown area was on display below them.
And at its exact center: The Diamond Tower.
One copter left.
No match for the two vans.
It wouldn't be fighting the lone fight for much longer, however.
Abby watched as two other copters converged on the scene.
"Where are all these helicopters coming from?" she asked no one in particular.
"Replacers in high places," was Gramps' only reply.
