"I want to call my wife," Trevor said. "I think I need her with me right now."

     Malika nodded.

     I get that, she thought.

Just as Trevor reached into his pocket for his phone, it rang.

     He looked at the screen.

Oh shit, Trevor thought. That's the last person I want to talk to right now.

     Still, they were brothers, so...

     "Hey, Cole. What's up?"

"Does anything have to be 'up'? Can't a brother just call a brother?"

I suppose a generic brother could call a generic brother, Trevor thought, but you never call me unless you want something.

"I'm sorry, but this really is a bad time," Trevor said. "I'm riding with some people."

     "Anyone I know?"

"I'll call you when I get a chance."

"Make it a point. Like as soon as you can get free."

     "You take care, Cole, okay?"

"The second you get the chance," Cole replied, then broke the connection.

"There you go," Trevor said. "Another weird thing on what is turning out to be a spectacularly weird day."

"And it's not even noon, yet," Malika said.

"He had a dream," Gramps said. "I bet you."
